The serial number is 626824. Carrying Case inside does have cloth separation. (see pictures). I'm not a typewriter expert or cleaner. Hopefully you can save this manual typewriter. This needs a new ribbon too.

Based on the serial number, we are pretty confident this is a 1952 model Smith Corona Sterling floating shift portable typewriter! With the original Tweed finish case. Typewriter is in nice shape, but will definitely need a ribbon and a thorough cleaning. Please see the test page we made for this typewriter in the pictures. Case is in good overall condition, definitely has a musty smell on the interior from decades of storage. Assuming a good airing out will do the trick.
