This is a large, heavy book……Part history, part travelog. 15” x 12”, 7lbs.+. 388 pages, unmarked, hint of tone, darker at the margins. Binding is good. The book’s had a library style spine repair sometime in the past. Original spine cover is reattached to new book cloth. Corners are very worn. The text block gilding is still clean and bright. Shelf wear is minimal. Total of 374 excellent illustrations. Multiple artists, well known at the time, were involved in their production and the printing quality is top notch. This is volume #2 of a 2 volume set and was originally published in German. This is the first American/English edition. Overall condition is fair, better in some aspects.
