Inscribed with a note/love letter about the books purchase and reason for, dated Christmas 1880. Book is holding together well enough with the boards still firmly attached and front embossing still very present. Gilt label still mostly present on the spine with a few minor chips. Cloth is frayed on the bottom of the spine and chipped on top. Pages aren't terrible for wood pulp paper, about what one would expect given the age. Not exactly supple but not super brittle either. Can definitely be a good reader or looks good on a shelf for a collector. Condition overall is G+ to VG-
