The Longfellow Birthday Book arranged by Charlotte Fidel Bates was published in 1881 by Houghton, Mifflin and Co. It is a hardcover book with illustrated pages and contains passages and poetry that is suited to each month of the year. Folks would enter names and dates of their family members as a way to collect genealogy, but it also compiled the birth dates of very famous authors and historical figures including Joan of Arc, Tennyson, Ben Franklin and hundreds more! This rare find is in good condition with a great intact spine and only one page that is pulling away from the binding. There are several dates of the original owners family that date back to 1839.
