Scenes from Life: Views of Family, Marriage and Intimacy (pb 1976)

Preface: When first beginning to teach introductory sociology and marriage and family courses three years ago, I found that the students much preferred reading and discussing short articles and current periodical material to using the standard textbooks. Literature, always my first love, soon made its way into the classes in the form of short stories and poetry that related in some way to the topics of the course. Finding no textbook on the market that offered these kinds of materials, and that was appropriate to my courses, I began visiting libraries and bookstores to gather material to use in teaching. The book is divided into nine units that thoroughly covers the periods of one's life from childhood to death.
