Not a difficult plant to grow but it can lose its characteristic compact form without sufficient light intensity and cool nights (40-55F) during growth. Do not over-indulge water or fertilizer. The coastal area where it grows is under the influence the cold Benguela Current and it should not be subjected to baking hot conditions.
