Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, with a graphic design degree from Kent State University, Staats joined Blizzard as one of their earliest 3D modelers on Team 2 in the early 2000s. He single-handedly designed and built half of Vanilla WoW's instanced dungeons and raids, plus 90% of its non-instanced caves, mines, and crypts—think epic spots like Deadmines, Blackrock Depths, and Molten Core!
