These spools haven’t been manufactured in decades and are becoming increasingly hard-to-find. You can leave them in your typewriter permanently, just re-spool fresh ribbon onto them as needed. I removed the old, dried-out ribbon and re-spooled new 1/2" black and red ribbon onto them.
