Quite a rare find is this original 19thC. Hammond #1 typewriter with original oak case. I I am not a typewriter expert! The typewriter appears to be quite original and untouched. I believe this typewriter has not been messed with, nor do I know how to work it. I do know when I hit the letters the interior arms of drum rotates, the hammer on back is not moving. When I touch the space bar there is some action but does not advance. I believe a typewriter expert will have to lubricate and set the arms as it has been sitting for many years. Please ask any and all questions I will do my best to answer! This is one of two antique typewriters I found in may travels this week. Both are listed on eBay. Measures approx.; case measures 13 3/4" wide x 12 1/4" deep x 7" tall. .
