Used dvd/vhs player with remote. Just pulled out of the attic and tested it. Cleaned the connections in the battery compartment of the remote and it works correctly. I tested using the DVD HDMI output and the RCA (Yellow/White/Red). I believe the DVD uses the s-video/hdmi outputs and the VHS uses the coax or RCA since VHS is analogue. I tested the VHS RCA and DVD HDMI and they worked fine (see images for evidence).
