8mm is not Tight fit so it will be much lighter than the horseshoe. It is thin at the edges and it is in the middle 16g thick. Even if you piercing shrink a lot but you can still open it back to 16g with this septum crescent because it is taper from 20g at the edge to 16g in the middle.
