These receivers have been fully tested and functional. They were removed from a school district and no longer needed. The hdmi will send video and sound to tv and the sound on the tv works but if you want to utilize the 5.1 surround with this model you have hook up a coaxial or optical cable also and then you mute the tv sound and use the receiver.
