Seating direction refers to the physical direction the car seat faces when properly installed for use in your car. Rear-facing child seats are used for the youngest children (generally up to about 1yr/20lbs), while forward-facing car seats are used for larger children (1-4yrs/40lbs). All child seats belong in the back seat of any vehicle that has passenger side air bags.
