If there was ever a game franchise that defines cult hit, it would be the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series. Born in 1999 on the Dreamcast (with a prequel on the PlayStation that set the table), the series has garnered little noteworthy praise, and probably even less sales at the register. Yet TXR... Pros Great for playing for 2 minutes or 2 hours; hilarious naming system.
Cons An acquired taste, to be sure; music could cause suicidal tendencies; no versus replay.
Recommended it? Yes

TXR:Z is an engrossing game if you've got the Stoplight Grand Prix mentality, and is also great for a quick pickup game with friends. This game is not a Gran Turismo, and isn't meant to be a direct competitor, but instead a very interesting "colleague" in the racing genre, if you will.
