Developer Naughty Dog's critically acclaimed Uncharted series returns to PlayStation 3 with Drake's Deception. As globetrotting adventurer Nathan Drake, you must embark on a trip to the mysterious Arabian Desert on a mission to find the legendary "Atlantis of the Sands," otherwise known as the lost city of Ubar. Joined by his mentor, Victor Sullivan, Drake soon discovers that he is in a dangerous race against a covert organization immersed in the occult. For the first time in the Uncharted series, Drake's Deception will offer stereoscopic support for 3D televisions.

Promising larger set pieces than those in the two previous games, Uncharted 3 will once again rely on a cinematic presentation that blends Hollywood-style storytelling with dramatic action sequences and special effects that utilize sand, water, smoke, and fire. In addition to his proficiency in ranged combat, Drake can now disable his opponents in other ways. New hand-to-hand combat moves let him take out multiple enemies at once, for example, or Drake can use stealth along with context-specific melee attacks. Both cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes are supported, with the developers integrating more single-player elements into the online game for a new experience. Less

Nathan Drake stars in his first adventure on PlayStation Vita, which takes place before the first three games on PlayStation 3. The setting is Central America, where Drake stumbles upon an ancient Spanish sect whose temple ruins and mysterious caverns hide a treasure known as the Golden Abyss. The game is designed to follow a similar look and feel to Drake's adventures on PlayStation 3, but with added control options thanks to the PlayStation Vita's touch-screen display and motion sensor.

Players can use standard analog and button controls or simply tap the screen to get Drake to climb, jump, and engage in melee combat. Moving the PlayStation Vita lets players manipulate the camera angles in real time. Unlike previous entries in the series, the emphasis in Golden Abyss is more on Tomb Raider-style exploration, platforming, and puzzle solving rather than frequent gun battles. More than two hours of cinematic cut-scenes are included, with fully voiced dialogue for each of the characters. Less

When Naughty Dog announced they weren't making more games in the Jak and Daxter series so they could concentrate on a new IP, many gamers thought they were crazy. Pros Best graphics I've seen on the PS3
Cons A few minor control issues

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is another great game in this PS3-exclusive series. However, it’s a couple of hours shorter than Uncharted 2 and doesn’t really bring much new stuff to the table. I played a borrowed copy and wasn’t able to play any of the multiplayer stuff... Read full review »
