This all-new Jetta will be based on the same platform as the Golf that debuted in Europe last fall. The revamped Jetta will get a longer wheelbase and a wider track, but the styling isn't likely to differ much from the current version. The engine lineup won't change much either, but the 3.2-liter V6 is a possible addition. It's expected to go on sale in the U.S. next spring. Less

2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

by artemis8 , Oct 24, 2006
Pros: comfortable, good ride, good gas mileage
Cons: expensive maintenance, problems
The Bottom Line: This car looks nice and drives nice, until it has a problem, which have been happening atleast once a year since we bought it.
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: In the beginning of 2003 my husband wanted to replace his old VW Quantum. He'd had some VW Bugs previously and wanted to get another Volkswagen, so we headed to our local dealer and ended up buying a 2002 Jetta.

We were lucky, the car we...

VW Jetta TDi: Can Black Smoke be Green?

by B_Campbell , Jul 2, 2002
Pros: Super fuel economy (40+mpg), good looks, great interior
Cons: High price, diesel fuel inconveniences
The Bottom Line: The Jetta TDi offers an extremely robust, well-rounded package, and the new 4-year bumper-to-bumper warranty is an added bonus.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Fuel Economy. Two words can sum up the direction that all automakers are heading these days. While sales of gas-hungry SUV's begin to slip, new technologies are hitting the market promising greater fuel economy, which means lower emissions. Hybrid...

2005 -2006 Jetta- All Gown-Up? Or just Old and Decrepit?

by shoplmart , May 8, 2005
Pros: Improved interior space and quality, optional #2 package, handling.
Cons: Engine is only adequate, almost $27,000.
The Bottom Line: The new Jetta isn't a bad car, however until VW improves its base engine, $27,000 is too much moo-la for this vehicle.
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: When I drove the 4th generation Jetta a few years back, I was impressed with how refined and fun-to-drive the Jetta could be when equipped with its VR6 or even the 1.8 T engine. Unfortunately, Jetta's equipped those engines were priced way beyond my...
