Volkswagens Cabrio convertible has been carried over basically unchanged for 2002. It is again available in three models: GL, GLS, and GLX. All three are powered by a 115-hp transversely mounted four-cylinder coupled with a five-speed manual transmission. A four-speed automatic is available at extra cost. All Cabrios are equipped with front and side-impact airbags, ABS brakes, side-impact door beams, and a roll bar. An AM/FM cassette stereo is standard, with a six-disc CD changer available as a dealer accessory. The GL and GLS models feature a manually operated convertible top, while the GLX receives a power top. The GLX is also equipped with leather upholstery, front fog lamps, and aluminum alloy wheels. Beetle TDI - A good car....or just an air polluting bug?

Pros: Fuel economy, Equipment, Front leg room, Rear head restraints .

Cons: MSRP, Interior, Typical economy car acceleration..

The Bottom Line: If you are in the market for an economy car, I suggest checking around prior to making a decision on the TDI.

VW Beetle 2003 - Big surprise

Pros: Smooth transmission, steady ride, plenty of space, lots of extra features for free

Cons: Mileage could be better, awkward cup holder placement

The Bottom Line: I definitely recommend this car. Ride is great, manual transmission is smooth, fun to drive and ride in it. Great for commute and use by singles/couples!
