Play the game that introduced Lara Croft to the world. The original Tomb Raider begins just as Lara Croft, an aristocrat just out of finishing school and on her way to marry into even greater wealth, has been involved in a plane crash. After quickly gathering her wits and freeing herself from the wreckage, Lara begins to explore her newly found Himalayan territory. She soon realizes that life's simplest, most savage adventures fulfill her in a way that her prior life never did. She sets out to explore all that is unknown and undiscovered. With the help of her family's money, she continues her exploration even after the civilized world has located her. Join Lara as she explores four ancient civilizations in 15 3-D environments. She will visit Vilcabamba, a lost Peruvian city that flourished for hundreds of years; Labyrinth, a Grecian city full of lions, alligators, and crazed monkeys to battle; the Great Pyramids of Egypt; and the mysterious land of Atlantis. Despite this apparent demise, Lara returns in Tomb Raider: Chronicles , an adventure that features previously unseen episodes from her career. Old friends of Lara who have gathered for her funeral to swap stories about her exploits introduce the episodes. The first level is set in Rome and is classic Tomb Raider ; plenty of jumping and puzzle solving with a minimum of gunplay. It's reminiscent of the very first game--it even features the comedy bad guys Pierre and Larson. This chapter also serves as an introduction to Lara's various moves and is a real nostalgia fest for longtime fans. The other chapters have distinct themes and should be very familiar to fans of pop culture. There's a level on a spooky deserted island, in which an unarmed teenage Lara must survive by wits alone. There's an action-packed level set on a submarine (though the Less

Cons: Graphics Aren't As good as an earlier game

Review: This was one of the first games I bought for my playstation. I haven't had my playstation quite three years now, and at this time Tomb Raider was already a greatest hit. Once I saw the greatest hit sign, and looked at the back cover my mind was made...

TR isn't just T&A

by Pyanfar , Mar 20, 2000
Pros: Fun, Exciting, Great Scenery; Tutorial was really good
Cons: More Ammo Wasted than two John Woo films; Some violence is uncomfortable to watch; Cameras don't always catch the view right

Review: I played this game all the way through. By that I mean that not only did I beat it, but I looked for all the secrets and tried to go everywhere on every level. I do that when a game sucks me in and takes away my social life.

Tomb Raider Chronicles ? The Final Nail In Lara Croft?s Rather Shapely Coffin?

by madtheory , May 20, 2003
Pros: Included level editor, same addictive Tomb Raider gameplay.
Cons: No cohesive story, fidgety camera, weak sound, cheap enemies, glitches out the wazoo.
The Bottom Line: Hardcore Tomb Raider fans will enjoy one last crack at saving the world with Lara, but newbies to the franchise should start with one of the better, earlier installments.

Review: Lara Croft is dead.

What, you didn't know? She bought the big sandy one at the end of the last episode, Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, in a cave-in of all things. Luckily Lara doesn't let a little thing like death...
