Amazon.co.uk Lara Croft--cultural icon, cover girl, and scourge of video-game wildlife everywhere--was last seen buried beneath an Egyptian pyramid at the end of . Despite this apparent demise, Lara returns in Tomb Raider: Chronicles , an adventure that features previously unseen episodes from her career. Old friends of Lara who have gathered for her funeral to swap stories about her exploits introduce the episodes. The first level is set in Rome and is classic Tomb Raider ; plenty of jumping and puzzle solving with a minimum of gunplay. It's reminiscent of the very first game--it even features the comedy bad guys Pierre and Larson. This chapter also serves as an introduction to Lara's various moves and is a real nostalgia fest for longtime fans. The other chapters have distinct themes and should be very familiar to fans of pop culture. There's a level on a spooky deserted island, in which an unarmed teenage Lara must survive by wits alone. There's an action-packed level set on a submarine (though the Less

A series of grisly murders brings Lara into conflict with a sinister Alchemist from the past, and a secret alliance of powerful individuals shrouded in mystery. At the centre of this conflict are five 14th century paintings the Obscura Paintings, which the Alchemist is desperate to repossess. Accused of the murder of her one time mentor Von Croy, Lara becomes a fugitive on the run. Pursued by the police, she is drawn into a dark world of blood, betrayal and vengeance spanning across hundreds of years. It is up to her to defeat this unholy alliance and stop them from unleashing their incredible powers on the world. Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness is classic Lara, but this time as both hunter and hunted she must rely on her ingenuity, athleticism and a new edge that has arisen from her dark inner demons. The game introduces a whole host of new gameplay features including interaction with other characters and the capacity to improve Lara's abilities depending on how you play the game. Less

Tomb Raider Chronicles ? The Final Nail In Lara Croft?s Rather Shapely Coffin?

by madtheory , May 20, 2003
Pros: Included level editor, same addictive Tomb Raider gameplay.
Cons: No cohesive story, fidgety camera, weak sound, cheap enemies, glitches out the wazoo.
The Bottom Line: Hardcore Tomb Raider fans will enjoy one last crack at saving the world with Lara, but newbies to the franchise should start with one of the better, earlier installments.

Review: Lara Croft is dead.

What, you didn't know? She bought the big sandy one at the end of the last episode, Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, in a cave-in of all things. Luckily Lara doesn't let a little thing like death...

A Pixellated Christmas, Part 4: Oh, The Humanity!

by tesseract , Apr 20, 2004
Pros: Lara looks great, some awesome graphics, some classic Tomb Raider fun.
Cons: %&*@&$! controls, graphics not consistently impressive.
The Bottom Line: Could have been the best Tomb Raider ever, but almost completely ruined by terrible controls. For ultra-dedicated Tomb Raider fans only. Even then, don't spend more than $10-15 on it.
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: I heard all the complaints about Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness (AOD), the sixth major installment in the Tomb Raider series of adventure games, but I still wanted it, because I simply can't let a major Tomb Raider release pass me by. I've...

Decent Game, But Get Your Saved Games And Walkthrough

by af21115 , Feb 17, 2004
Pros: Great Graphics, Neat New Moves, Hints, Easier Puzzle Solving.
Cons: Horrid Controls, Horrible Programming, Impossible Timed Runs, Two Idiotic Unbeatable Boss Levels. Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!
The Bottom Line: A decent game, better than previous versions in many ways, but with its own set of problems. Stupid programming, buggy, horrid control problems, but with some improvements.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Tomb Raider Angel Of Darkness for PC is the name of the game. I've been playing PC games now for over 15 years. I've played all but one of the Tomb Raider games. Tomb Raider is a game you love and hate at the same time. Earlier versions had poor...
