Tamron AF18-200 Di II Telewide Lens
At Tamron, our quest has always been to make the ideal zoom lens. As a result of this ongoing challenge, we have introduced the concept of our high-power zoom lens in the new AF18-200mm XR Di II for exclusive use with digital SLRs. Tamron's original development of proprietary core technologies such as Aspherical element production, Multiple Cam Mechanism and Integrated Focus Cam design lend to the creation of the world's lightest, most compact 11.1X zoom lens made for digital SLR cameras. Aberrations galore, though at least it focuses correctly.

by tcchou71 , Aug 16, 2005
Pros: Focuses accurately on my camera, unlike Sigma 18-200.
Cons: Optically poor, even when compared to the (cheaper) Sigma 18-200.
The Bottom Line: I prefer the Sigma 18-200, due to its better optics. However, neither of these 11x zooms is optically as good as lenses with less range.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: This lens has a very convenient focal length range for digital SLRs. Its design is based on the very popular Tamron 28-300mm lens for film cameras (and full-frame digital cameras). But this convenience comes at a significant optical sacrifice - this...

Tamron Does It Again

by libragirlsc , Sep 28, 2007
Pros: Cost, Sharpness, Hood Included, Range Covered. Fast Focus, No searching
Cons: Would be awesome at f2.8 like the 28-75, but still an awesome lens!
The Bottom Line: For the range covered, quality, low price and added hood, you can't beat this lens.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Note - There are two different versions of this lens, the f3.5-6.3 that we are reviewing here and one that starts with a f3.8 (it's a cheaper version). When I was researching this lens I found that many were calling the f3.8, the f3.5 version so...

Nice addition to your digital camera!

by lab1172007 , Oct 12, 2007
Pros: Crisp pictures, great telephoto and wide angle capabilities, great macro, little to no distortion, lightweight
Cons: No image stabilizer, slow at long end, low light difficulties.
The Bottom Line: A great lens for 'all around' use. Has amazing wide angle and telephoto capabilities with very little distortion. Great macro with bright crisp color and contrast.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Overall

I recently switched over from the kit lens to the Tamron for use with my Pentax K10D. This lens is a lightweight compact lens that has made some improvements on the existing 18-200mm lens by adding additional telephoto...
