Styling was revised this year, an antiskid system became available, and a 5-speed automatic transmission replaced the 4-speed unit. Base models now were called Linear, midrange versions were renamed Arc, and the Aero again ranked as the top model--with a 20-horsepower increase. An automatic transmission was standard on the Arc and optional on other models. The antiskid system was standard on the Aero and optional on others. It helped prevent skids in turns by regulating braking and engine power. Xenon headlights also became optional. Front airbag deployment now was affected by occupant size and position. Less

Pros: Comfort, feel, economy, classiness without the ostentatious aura
Cons: The lack of pretentiousness. Too heavy to handle like a sports car.
The Bottom Line: If you want a sedan to comfortably move four adults anywhere and make the driver extra content, this is an excellent choice that will inspire no regrets.

Pros: Performance that doesn't disappoint, Stylish, comfortable, plenty of bells and whistles
Cons: Manual Shift mode not too exciting, I prefer the sport button
The Bottom Line: The SAAB 9-5 is comfortable, roomy, incorporates cutting edge technology and the turbocharged engine provides more than enough performance for me.

Pros: Gas mileage, seats, OnStar, comfort, size for utility. It's a thrilling car to own.
Cons: Steering shifting is only ok. Floor mats are cheaper than the former. That's it.
The Bottom Line: As a choice for a wagon, you really can't go wrong with the Saab 9-5.
