After the successful launch of the 9-3 Cabrio and sedan, Saab is gearing up for yet another addition to the lineup in the form of a sport wagon. A concept version of this upcoming addition was unveiled at this year's Frankfurt International Motor Show. With a shape inspired by the earlier Saab 9-3X concept, Saab further refined the idea into the 9-3 Sport-Hatch concept. Intended to blur the lines between traditional wagons and hatchbacks, the Sport-Hatch is less radical than the 9-3X, but no less appealing thanks to its swoopy exterior shape and more useful configuration. Not Really Trying To Keep Up With The Competition... And Succeeding.

by drive571 , Feb 17, 2006
Pros: Agile handling, tight steering, characterful Saab quirks, exceptionally comfortable seats.
Cons: Slow-revving V6, laggy throttle response, button-intensive dashboard, chassis limited by front-drive layout.
The Bottom Line: The 9-3 is an emotional choice, not a logical one, as its dynamics aren't as good as a 3-Series' or C-Class'. For some buyers, though, it's probably close enough.

Review: My Experience

2006 has been quite a year for new car releases. With all the revised and redesigned models hitting the market at once, I haven't been able to drive half the new vehicles I'd like to. The Saab 9-3 Aero, though, is one...

Two more cylinders and a lower price--time for a 9-3?

by mkaresh , Apr 10, 2006
Pros: Thoroughly competitive car at a reasonable price
Cons: Even in Aero form a bit bland; cramped rear seat
The Bottom Line: A thoroughly reasonable premium compact, but passion is lacking. Saab needs a new Viggen.

Review: For 2006 the Saab 9-3 received a wagon variant and a new engine for the top-of-the-line Aero, a turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 good for 250 horsepower. I've been wanting to sample the new Aero wagon--SportCombi in Saab-speak--with a manual transmission...

Crude, but the littlest troll has a lot of heart

by toolman8 , Mar 6, 2009
Pros: AWD confidence, anvil-like reliability, good utility, handsome
Cons: Rough around the edges, crude automatic transmission, modest performance
The Bottom Line: Saab wasn't able to polish the rough edges off the Impreza, but its tough Subaru heart still shines through

Review: I bought a Troll.

When my new job brought with it a 100 mile-per-day commute, it wasn't long before I started thinking about alternatives to racking up big miles on my beloved
