The MB-D10 vertical grip is a big step forward for Nikon.

Pros: Greatly improved ergonomics, accepts more powerful EN-EL4a battery, superb build quality.
Cons: Shutter release button sensitivity is much greater than the D300's.
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended for its dramatic improvement to the ergonomics and performance of the D300 camera body.

Pros: Used in the battery pack can double the number of shots between rechargings.
Cons: Battery performance mediocre at best. In short supply as this review is written.
The Bottom Line: The manufacturer's mandatory battery suffers from mediocre performance and high power drain.
