The unit offers Specific Area Message Encoding technology (S.A.M.E.), which preprograms the device to receive only those warnings that apply to your local area. The single-speaker radio offers 23 programmable county codes, 7 preset weather channels, AM/FM tuning, date, time, alarm clock with snooze, and even auto-switch from AM/FM to pertinent, color-coded hazard alerts. For tuning, the radio employs drift-free phase-lock loop technology and an easy-to-read blue, backlit LCD. I've owned my Midland WR-300 for three months. I wanted only one thing of it: to get NOAA SAME alerts. The 300 does this flawlessly. All other capabilities that it has are just extras. There is no other function that it can perform, including basic reception of NOAA Radio channels, that I can't do...
