Good if you want the basics

by darogers , Jun 12, 2006
Pros: Uses AA batteries (you can carry a extra) Uses barometric pressure for determining altitude
Cons: No computer interface. It takes forever to manually input all of your waypoints.
The Bottom Line: Not a bad unit for the intro user. A bit pricey for the features though. I would consider Garmin for my next purchase.
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: The unit is very easy to operate. Magellan has definitely improved the details in the manual since their earlier models. This unit is great for the novice user. If you're a hiker, fisherman, or biker this has most of what you need. The internal...

good outdoors gps

by flamingopossum , Dec 7, 2004
Pros: great tracking, nice package, electronic compass/temp features, good memory
Cons: no external connections, high battery consumption, road detail
The Bottom Line: GPS's are unique to each user. This one could be recommended for certain applications(outdoor excursions) and not for others(road trecking).
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: I received this gps as a gift and ended up taking it back to get a unit with external connections. This gps is a great little piece of equipment if you are using it fot the right applications. The map data will give you a proximity to locations and...

Nice for Starters

by trgrant , Jan 27, 2006
Pros: Mapping, price, signal reception is really accurate.
Cons: Data input, loses data on occasion.
The Bottom Line: If you are just starting out, or only plan on using a GPSr casually, then this is the best deal.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: If you are starting out with a GPSr and aren't sure that this is something you need, then this unit is probably the best.

Compared to the eXplorist 100 this units main upgrade is the map. This is nice, but note that it only includes major...
