A highly integrated MPEG-1/2 hardware encoder based on the Conexant -418 is on-board for recording analog cable TV to disk. Pros: Great for watching TV on your computer. Stereo Sound. QAM tuning. Remote Control.

Cons: WinTV Scheduler & TitanTV are both incompatible with this tuner.

The Bottom Line: Product is easy to install if you have ever installed a pci card before. Think internet surfing is addictive? Try watching cable TV and surfing the internet simultaneously!

Decent QAM card which is often on sale cheap.

Pros: Cheap way to get cable non-HDTV channels and some HDTV channels.

Cons: Waiting for cheap cable card interface for PCs to get full features of cable.

The Bottom Line: Best cheap way to get cable on your PC though it wont get the all the HDTV channels and PPV.

Excellent card (picture not accurate, though)

Pros: Easy to install, works in Vista, comes with Media Center remote. No problems yet.

Cons: Nothing generic users would care about (e.g. doesn't work with Windows Media Encoder).

The Bottom Line: $100 may seem like a lot for an HDTV card when you can get a USB ATSC-dongle for $40, but it is well worth the money. No issues at all.

Review: If you want to see an accurate picture, look at the picture for the HVR-1600 1101 on epinions. Like the 1101, the 1183 has 3 coax inputs (ATSC antenna, NTSC cable and FM tuner) one SVideo input and red/white RCA audio inputs.
