Pros: Very good mapping, lots and lots of waypoints, very rugged.
Cons: Electronic compass doesn't work very well. The unit is a battery hog.

My son and I are geocachers. I was looking for a GPS receiver that was rugged, could hold a lot of waypoints, had an electronic compass, and had good mapping capabilities. I purchased this unit with Lowrance's optional topographic mapping software...

I got this as a present and while it does work great, i find it kinda unnecessary. My 3 year old smart phone has the exact same features and costs almost as much as this GPS alone. I didn't find anything about it that for me, is worth buying it. It...

Pros: Decent grayscale screen, MP3/OggVorbis playback, decent keypad layout, 2 AA battery operation.
Cons: Slow GPS sat connectivity, would not maintain GPS sat connectivity, needs external antenna.
The Bottom Line: Look elsewhere, at other models and/or brands. GPS handhelds need to connect easily to GPS sats and maintain that connection. This model failed to properly perform its primary function.
