The first big step up from the SR60, the SR125 are great headphones for home use. The Grado name suggests high quality and great sound, and the SR125 are no exception. They produce a detailed musical presentation, showing off good highs and mids, with tight, controlled bass. Their only downfall is that they tend to be a bit uncomfortable, but this can be remedied by bending the headband around. The SR125 can be used with a portable player or with an amp. Less

If you're using an amp and would like to take a slight step up in Grado sound quality from the SR60, try the SR80. They have good sound quality, with good bass, articulate mids and subtle highs. They can be a bit uncomfortable if you don't have Grado's new earpads, but are otherwise well-crafted and lightweight. They can be powered by a portable, but an amp is necessary for higher quality sound The SR80 use a coarse, densely pored foam earpad that does not cover the driver; this earpad makes a ring around the outer edge of the earpiece and has a cut-out center. Grado has come out with a new, softer earpad, which is much more comfy, that can be purchased separately. The SR80 have a flexible, vinyl-covered headband and metal height adjusters that connect the earpieces to the headband, allowing up and down adjustment plus 360 degree rotation. This feature is ideal for laying the headphones down flat. The straight connecting cable attaches to both earpieces, and comes terminated to a 1/8 inch miniplug. A 1/8"-1/ Less

by symbiosis , Aug 10, 2005
Pros: Fast, accurate, revealing, do not require a headphone amplifier
Cons: Expensive, uncomfortable over long periods of time, slightly bright, can be fatiguing.
The Bottom Line: The Bottom Line fondly remembers when Monica Lewinsky was the biggest thing that we had to worry about.

Review: First off, I want to say that I'm not somebody who just bought these things and am scrambling to write a review about them; I've had these beauties for a while, and I'm finally buckling down to write about them. In fact, I have a pair of RS-1s on...

Pros: inspired open-air design, cheap price
Cons: not as good as Grado's top-of-the-line
The Bottom Line: In my opinion, these are the best value Grado has.

Review: These are the first Grados I ever bought. I'm not sure I qualify as a textbook "audiophile," but I have taken back almost every pair of headphones I have ever bought - and usually within 24 hours of their purchase. Why? Because most headphones just...
