The SL-BD20D is an entry-level belt-drive turntable. It features semi-automatic operation with auto return and auto shut-off, and it comes with a moving-magnet cartridge. What's more, this unit features Panasonic's TP4 plug-in cartridge connector system, which makes replacing the cartridge easier. The SL-BD20D has a removable dust cover. It doesn't have a built-in phono preamplifier, so your audio/video receiver must have a phono input to accommodate the SL-BD20D's output level. If your receiver doesn't have a phono input, you'll want to buy a dedicated phono preamp. Or you could opt for a turntable like Denon's DP26F, which has a preamp built in. Less
The Grace Digital VW03 Vinylwriter Boca alows you to record all your vinyl as digital music files and import them into your computer music library.

For the Price, This Turntable is Alright With Me

by vemartin , Jan 15, 2007
Pros: Inexpensive; semi-automatic; easy to use.
Cons: No power indication LED.
The Bottom Line: All-n-all I am very pleased with the Technics SL-BD20D. For the price point (sub-$150.00) turntable is a basic unit that allows me to play those long forgotten albums.

Review: Anyone who came of age before the advent of the CD-ROM in the eighties, most likely has a large collection of Long Play (LP 33-1/3rmp) and Short Play (SP 45rmp) albums collecting dust in some dark coat closet. At least that was my particular...

No longer a valid option

by Watski1 , Nov 26, 2004
Pros: Simple, plug and play design gets the new user up and running quickly.
Cons: Outdated tonearm means very pedestrian reproduction quality.
The Bottom Line: If you just want to spin old vinyl once in a while, and aren't really concerned about sound quality, you could do worse. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: I purchased this unit over 15 years ago from a typical home electronics retailer. The targeted market then, as now, is the home stereo user who does not want to part with their vinyl collection in favor of digital media. like many listeners, I have...
