In the world of R.L. Stein, upon whose young-adult horror books this popular TV show was based, the world of the supernatural is ever-present in the everyday world. It can and does show up at any moment, and in this, the show's only trilogy of episodes, the supernatural takes the form of a mysteriously enchanting model town. The antique toy seems to lure children in, turning them into mere shells of their former selves, and afflicting their dreams.
