Dell's raiding the Pocket PC pantry again with the Axim X5

by yusakugo , Dec 3, 2002
Pros: Tons of features, great price.
Cons: Size of the unit, Pocket PC OS.
The Bottom Line: If size is not a priority, you will love the Axim X5 if you like the Pocket PC OS. Tons of features for an outstanding price, Dell is packing heat!
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Well, Dell is expanding its markets... it was just a matter of time before Dell dove into the handheld market. No surprise that it sided with the Pocket PC OS since Dell has had a strong relationship with Microsoft and Intel. Yes, many of the parts...

Stylin' Without Color

by RichBoston , Apr 13, 2001
Pros: Expansion Capabilities, Palm 4.0 OS, New Apps.
Cons: No Color, Not Compatible With Other Cradles or Handspring Attachments
The Bottom Line: Basically the same unit as the new Palm m505 but with a monochrome screen. Which model you buy will depend on how attached you are to a color screen.

by quasar , Apr 16, 2001
Pros: silent alarms, expansion capability, USB or serial sync
Cons: inverted backlight, SD cards mostly vaporware, yet another hotsync connector
The Bottom Line: Unless you are a V/Vx owner who loves the form factor but needs more memory, I would avoid the m500 until there is a critical mass of shipping SD devices.
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: I got the chance to see the m500 recently when Palm came to the Boston PDA User Group. He didn't have the m505, but luckily a different Palm employee who came to the New England Palm User Group a few days later did. I already wrote a review of the...
