Canon PowerShot A510 Digital Camera - Compact and Cheap, But Flexible

bydkozin Aug 3, 2005
41 Helpfuls 42 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Excellent optics for low price and compact size, uses 2 AA batteries, features, 4x zoom
Cons Flash creates shadow in corner in Macro mode and overexposes unless you use ISO50/f8
Recommended it? Yes

A replacement for the last year's Canon A75, the 3.2-Megapixel Canon PowerShot A510 is currently available at rather low prices. I got mine for $161 after coupons including taxes and shipping at Dell. I also got the 4-Megapixel A520 to see the difference for only $20 more. Your mileage may vary... Read full review »

Pros FUN camera that does it all, but more importantly opens up new avenues in photography.

Recommended it? Yes

I bought this camera mostly for fun.  While I do professional shoots, I have yet to try this camera out for any paid work yet although I can actually see myself using it for events such as weddings where the bouquet toss comes to mind.

This camera is mostly about high speed frame capture... Read full review »

Pros High Speed Massive feature set massive pallet set (zoom etc..)
Cons Low light sucks - rolling shutter - small quirks
Recommended it? Yes

I had the older (slightly more powerful) version of this camera the EX-F1 then I saw this one for a meager $249 and just had to have it as a backup.

This camera has many amazing things going for it (and many BAD things hurting it too)

This camera does its thing at a higher resolution... Read full review »
