There’s a reason so many pros live and die by the Canon EOS 1D Mark III camera. With an amazing shooting speed of 10 frames per second, there’s no better camera for sports shooters, photojournalists, or even wildlife photographers. Throw in not one, but two of Canon’s incredible DIGIC III image processors, a brand-new all-metal weather-sealed body, and 14-bit analog-to-digital converters, and it’s clear that the Canon EOS 1D Mark III is in a class of its own. The dual memory slots (CompactFlash and Secure Digital), Live View function, and 3-inch LCD are all icing on the cake. Less

The Canon EOS 5D Mark II Digital SLR camera automatically conducts peripheral illumination correction when shooting JPEG images, a function that previously could only be accomplished through post-image processing using software such as Canon's Digital Photo Professional, which Canon supplies at no extra charge. Peripheral illumination correction evens brightness across the image field, making an image of a blue sky even toned throughout and reducing light fall-off at image edges. This new feature essentially eliminates one of the limitations of previous full-frame digital SLRs. Less

Canon EOS 5D Mark II: The perfect balance?

by theuerkorn , May 12, 2009
Pros: Resolution, IQ, ergonomics, High ISO, HD video, lens fine tune, battery, quiet, UDMA
Cons: only 3.9fps, 9-point AF system, no integrated flash, "expensive"
The Bottom Line: Finally an update of the venerable 5D (after over 3 years). It turns out to be an excellent one!

Pros: Excellent dynamic range, low noise, well-built, professional quality, HD video
Cons: Needs expensive lenses to get best results
The Bottom Line:

Full-frame, high resolution photography is here at last for both serious amateur and professional alike.
