Canon's New SD400, best balance of performance, features, and cost of any current Micro-Cam

by Howard_Creech , Apr 25, 2005
Pros: Fast, ultra compact, user friendly, very good image quality, tough stainless steel body
Cons: Mediocre battery life, weak flash, red-eye problems, chromatic aberration, and noisy ISO 400 images
The Bottom Line: Canon?s new SD400 Digital Elph provides users with an almost perfect combination of excellent image quality, tough as nails durability, ultra-compact size, and intuitive ease of use.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Canon has dominated the ultra compact digicam market since the first Digital Elphs hit camera store shelves and the new Canon Powershot SD400 demonstrates why that trend isn't likely to change anytime soon. The SD400 provides users with 5-megapixel...

Canon PowerShot SD400 / IXUS 50 Digital Camera - Cool, Compact and Fast

by dkozin , Aug 8, 2005
Pros: Cool looks, sturdy, compact, fast operation, excellent picture quality, large bright LCD
Cons: No manual control, flash leaves shadow in corner upclose in macro mode, no battery status
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend Canon SD400 if you want a miniature, cool yet capable camera with 5-megapixels that produces excellent photos with print sizes...

SD850 IS : I'm not so enamored with this model compared to the last one

by yusakugo , Aug 13, 2007
Pros: 4x optical zoom, 4GB movie file size, ISO1600, image stabilization, overall build, easy to use
Cons: Expensive compared to competition, many megapixels x small sensor = some picture quality problems
The Bottom Line: Overall a good camera but I find that the SD800 is a better overall camera and value than the SD850 especially for night photos and enlargements.
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: Purchased from Best Buy during their rather ridiculous price drop down to $284.99 plus tax and free shipping (and getting 1% through ebates and Best Buy's Reward Zone program). It seemed like a great way to see if a compact camera could pull off 8...
