This ultra-fast telephoto, a member of Canon legendary L-series lenses, has totally optics to provide better image quality. It uses fluorite and UD lens elements for excellent chromatic aberration correction and consists of 17 elements in 12 groups. The built-in Optical Image Stabilizer gives it up to 4 stops of stabilization correction. The inner USM and optimized AF algorithms result in fast and quiet autofocusing, and the circular aperture can even produce beautiful out-of-focus images. Less

Professional Performance at an Affordable Price.

by aashok , Jul 12, 2004
Pros: Superior fluorite element, low weight, f4 constant aperture, solid construction, excellent price.
Cons: Lens collar not included, no image stabilization, dirty white color.
The Bottom Line: This is a versatile, relatively lightweight 70-200mm lens. It has professional quality optics delivering a remarkably good performance. And at $550, it is a bargain.

by DCannon , Feb 9, 2004
Pros: Exceedingly sharp, great color/contrast, light, smooth operating, internal focus, price
Cons: Many seem to have autofocus inaccuracy issues (discussed in review)
The Bottom Line: If you're fortunate enough get one that autofocuses accurately, it's an excellent lens. Razor sharp with superb color/contrast.
