A year or so ago I needed to get a new stick blender. I found this one for around $20 (cheap!) - it was the only model the store had in stock besides the model I previously had killed. Pros Immersible hand blenders are a great invention.
Cons The poor design of the plastic casing causes food to get stuck inside!

The Hamilton Beach hand blender, Model 59770, is a great idea with a design flaw.  I love having an immersible blender.  It is indespensible for blending soup in a pot without having to transfer it to a conventional blender, then back again to re-warm.  It makes cream sauces and gravies as smooth... My soup was too lumpy, I was foregoing smoothies because I didn't want to haul out my blender...my life was obviously amiss. Then came the Breville Cordless Hand Blender and everything seemed to click into place.
