If you are starting out with a GPSr and aren't sure that this is something you need, then this unit is probably the best.

Compared to the eXplorist 100 this units main upgrade is the map. This is nice, but note that it only includes major highways and state roads. Still it is enough to... Read full review »

Pros Made In The USA. Simple to use. Fun for kids and adults.
Cons It may not meet experienced geocacher's expectations.
Recommended it? Yes

If you want to get started "treasure hunting" or geocaching as is it technically called, then the Geomate Jr. is the handheld GPS that hits the sweet spot for price and features. This is a review of the Geomate jr handheld GPS for geocaching.
