The Adtran Total Access 1500 Dual T1 Line Interface Unit (LIU) is a common module plug-in unit that connects the channel bank to a T1 line at the DSX-1 level. All data formatting and line encoding, as well as backplane timing and control, are performed by the ACT LIU. The LIU can be provisioned locally with on-board switches, remotely through the SCU craft interface or remotely through network management. The on-board switches are a subset of the provisioning parameters. All parameters are available when provisioning through the craft interface. A faceplate LED indicates whether the LIU operation mode is based on local or remote provisioning parameters.
