The 2005 4Runner returns with little change. The 4Runner is available in six models: SR5, Sport, and Limited trims in 2WD or 4WD configurations. The 4.7L i-Force V8 has improved in horsepower and torque increasing to 270hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. All models are equipped with a new five-speed automatic transmission with AI shift control, which changes gear-shifting patterns depending on driving conditions as well as driver input. Advanced safety features include ABS with brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution, vehicle skid control with TRAC traction control, dual-stage front airbags with passenger cutoff switch and optional curtain and side air bags with rollover sensor. Replacement for my 1997 4runner

Pros: More powerful engine, better trans, still reasonable mileage, kept the good qualities of old model.

Cons: Lowered ride height results in less ground clearance by about 1.5 inches. Radio value?

The Bottom Line: If you liked the 4runner before, you will love this model more.

Pros: Everything else

Cons: Very tight front seat space.

The Bottom Line: It may be a great vehicle if you fit.

Pros: Absolutely wonderful! Great quiet ride, good gas mileage!

Cons: A standard cargo restraint for the cargo area would be nice
