Author's Review
I went ahead and bought this washer a month ago, before reading any reviews. When I got home from the store and before it was delivered I decided I better read the reviews here at Epinions on the Cabrio washer. After reading the reviews, I panicked and ran back to the store and purchased the 5 year extended warranty that HH-GREGG offered.
I have 3 Great Danes and do a lot of sheets, towels, quilts and blankets, and needed a large washer that could get pet hair and nasty stains out. When I first used the washer, I was worried because it didn't fill with a lot of water, and I couldn't imagine that this washer could possibly get anything clean with so little water or soap suds! So I decided I would put it to the ultimate test, and just trust the washer and if it didn't work like it was suppose to, then I would send it back. Let me tell you...so far, this has been the best washer I have ever owned! Now, I don't know if they redesigned it since some of the reviews have been written, but one review said clothes got caught in the flippers at the bottom of the machine and tied clothes in knots...this washer has no flippers and I have not had a problem with it washing anything, including my dress clothes, delicates, towels, sheets or quilts.
It really does hold a huge amount of laundry (at least 3 loads), and I am saving a ton of money on both water and detergent (HE). Every load comes out clean with no stains and smelling fresh. I think the trick is to trust the washer to do it's job, and try not to stress how much water it is or is not using (you will think it is not enough). Use the amount of detergent that the bottle calls for, and don't mess with the machine settings too much. This machine is engineered to know how fast the spin should be for certain wash loads etc. I usually always add a 2nd rinse, and other than that, I set it to what I'm washing (sheets/towels, Perm Press, Bulky Items/quilts, etc.) and let it do it's thing.
I have really put this thing thru the test almost hoping it would do a crappy job so I could send it back fast if I needed to, but it has exceeded my expectations, and I actually have fallen in love with this machine! Since I have only owned it a month...I can't comment on it's reliability yet, but I will come back and edit or add to this review in 6 months and again in a year to update you on how well the machine holds up! I hope it does last forever because I am so impressed with the job it is doing getting the loads clean and fresh! AND the money it is saving me in water and detergent!
I never write reviews...but I always read them...so if I took the time to write this review, it is because I know how important accurate ones are to me, and I wanted to tell you my experience with this machine and tell you to just trust it to do the job and just set it and let it do it's thing.
I bought the 5 year warranty ($119) since it is such an expensive machine, just to relax a little about some of the reviews I read. I know I'm covered for 5 years, no hassle repairs...hopefully I will never need it, but it helps me sleep easier at night.
The only cons I can think of is the purchase price is kind of high, and I worried about that for a while, but decided I really needed a large load capacity, and this machine is the largest on the market today. I also wanted a machine that I could easily wash quilts and heavy blankets in, and this machine is HUGE inside with no center agitator, it is easy to load. I also love the clear glass lid, so you can look at the clothes as they wash...although this is where you will start to worry that there can't possibly be enough water in there! It is saving me money on water and detergent, so I expect I will re-coup some of the purchase price eventually.
One last note - Make sure you ONLY use HE detergent. The salesman said it will break the machine if you don't. I've also heard this from several other people as well.
I will update later on the reliability of this machine...
