Author's Review
I got the xbox wireless adapter right after I got my Xbox 360 several months ago. Now the biggest thing about the xbox is its online gaming and its online content. Unfortunately the powers that be at Microsoft either due to greed or short slightness didnt put wi fi right out of the box for there xbox. The console does come with a foot of either band cable, now raise your hands if your game room and your router are hooked up in the same place, I know mines clear across the house. Which leaves me two options buy 50 bucks of cord to trip over and hook up to the router, or go wi fi. But the 360 does not use a regular wi fi adapter it has to be microsofts (in less you build a bridge and that can cost you just has much) so I had to take the 100 dollar bite in order to take my xbox online.
So whats the unit look like. The wireless adapter looks like a lot of wi-fi adapters do. It is grey has a light and the xbox logo in the main unit. Then it has an antenna for picking up wi fi singles and a USB cord to hook it up to the 360. It goes in the back and there are even little holes for the thing to latch on to so it doesnt take up any extra space it just sits on the side of the xbox. The little light lets you know if it is connected to the network and tells any hard ware problem. Installation is just has easy has sticking it in, going to the network settings, picking your network, and going through whatever security (if any) your network has. And then boom youre online with xbox live. The whole process takes less then 5 minutes. So is it worth 100 bucks to take your xbox online.
The answer is actually yes I do believe despite the price that it is worth it to take the xbox online. Xbox live has movies to rent, TV shows for sale from several different networks and shows, game add ons, and games for sale. You need a credit card or points card that is sold separately for these downloads. There is also online gaming which you get 1 month free for hooking your xbox online. And I got plenty of time playing games like Naruto, TMNT Arcade game, and Uno online. So yeah I got my 100 bucks and more so far on the online
The games rarely lag and the downloads are fairly fast with the unit so I have no trouble. I have never been disconnected from a game because my wi fi crapped out.
Final Recommendation.
Ok so the thing works and it does it job well but what disgusts me is the price point at 100 bucks. For any xbox bot that calls the Wii gamecube 1.5, I should let you know Nintendo manage to stick the wi fi free in there all ready pretty cheap little box, how come Microsoft didnt include it in there. And I wouldnt be half has mad if Microsoft just let me use a 40 dollar Linksys adapter but the fact that they hold me up for 60 dollars more for there own adapter. In less you have your modem or your router hooked up close together this is going to be a must have unfortunately.
