Cam is good but software sucks

This is my first camcorder. I got this for free as a gift from a vendor. I came home checked the prices on these and reviews. Which are so so. Bottom line the software that comes with this cam blows. Is it just me or are they actually using Old English Font on the buttons in the software?
The cam is decent good amount of features and the touch screen is easy to navigate. It's small the but the whole cam is small so complaining about it's size of the view screen is stupid.
The picture quality if you use the software that came with the cam is going to be spotty and grainy. There are no options in the capture program to adjust the quality and image size.
I have adobe premiere but for recording my trip the grocery store it's overkill. If you have Windows XP I recommend you use the free Windows Movie Maker that comes with XP. You will have access to adjust the quality of what you need and you can actually get a respectable clean picture quality instead of the spotty grainy image that is brought up in most of the reviews I've read.
