Great wedding/event camcorder!

Date of Review: Nov 11, 2006

I'd rather have a PD170 which is essentially the same camera with XLR inputs and separate controls for audio channels, but at the time the money difference was bigger. We own two VX2100s and we do about thirty weddings a year. These cameras are great! I can't say enough goog things about them. I once was using a cheap tripod (bad idea!) and had it slung over my shoulder while I walked along a road on a documentary shoot, when "Crash!" the VX2100 fell off the tripod and fell seven feet to the pavement. It stopped working, but only had a small crack in the case and needed a new switch - $300 in repairs at a great shop in Ft Worth. That was over a year ago. That camera still works as good as new - talk about rugged!
