After having multiple issues with the product & level of tech support from Netgear, I have indefinitely made Linksys my brand for home network products.
The WRT54G has the latest & greatest features in connecting your home network together. The wireless functionality combines the fastest wireless speed currently available by standard @ 54G, with top-notch security. It features WPA and WPA-2, which is the virtually the most security you can get for a home network.
For gaming or other functionality, it has port forwarding. I use it and it works well for routing VoIP, remote desktop connections and other machine-specific services.
I am also pleased with the Dynamic DNS functionality of sending updates of your dynamic IP to a handful of popular DDNS provides like dyndns.com.
The signal range is pretty phenomenal, since I have the unit pretty much hidden from view in my basement (it's where I have my cable modem & the cleanest cable connection to it before it splits off to my TVs).
Tech support for Linksys, in my experience, has been pretty good too.
I would definitely recommend this for anyone with a home network, as it meets my standard for a wireless router - the 3S - *S*ignal, *S*peed, *S*ecurity.
