Author's Review
I had been torn between this projector, the Optoma HD80, and the Panasonic PT-AE2000U 1080p projectors. I was leaning heavily towards the Optoma HD80 because I'm a fan of DLP, and thought it would be nice to buy from a brick-n-mortar, however after reading other reviews on this projector I decided to take the leap and get this one instead.
At the time of writing, this one is less expensive than the other two. Even with that aside, this projector is beautiful! The picture is very clear. I don't live in an apartment, I do have a Home Theater room, but it's nothing special, just a spare room (that happens to be long), but other than sitting on our old couches it almost feels like we're in a theater watching! I'm able to get the picture to fit my entire wall. The projector really is as quiet as advertised as well (I didn't check decibels, but it's quiet)
Everyone warns of the low lumens, but I was able to watch during the day with just the blinds shut (basement). It wasn't as bright as upstairs would have been, but wasn't very dark either. I saw the picture pretty well, and if it bothers you that much there's always brighter settings (I use Brilliant Cinema).
My main worry was dead pixels with LCD, but this came without any (that I can see).
I will admit that I had to send it in for RMA the day after I got it, but let me explain. I got it, set it up, and watched it during my lunch break. Everything was wonderful. That night I came home and went to watch a movie with the kids after dinner, and it wouldn't turn on. The next day I called up Sanyo, and they gave me instructions to send it it. In those instructions, they said they would pay for the shipping both ways, not only that, but they'd overnight it! I had FedEx come by that Wednesday evening at around 6pm, and had it back Saturday morning right when I woke up (around 9am)! Quick, very nice service, and to top it off, they paid for the shipping! I'm very happy with their warranty, and am happy I decided to go with them (and excited that it's 3 year instead of 2 like the others).
