Highly Disappointing

I went to Best Buy with the exact model that I wanted (not this one) and ended up getting talked into the Sony. I should have know better. It looks great. It's light. Perfect for travel. But appearances are deceiving in this case and the Sony name means nothing. First, the laptop uses power even when completely powered off. And YES, I'm SURE it is off (Both Geek Squad and Sony made an issue of this until I pointed out that I'm an electrical engineer who also happens to be a systems auditor and I own a computer forensics/data recovery company). Fully charged, if you unplug the laptop and then start it up the next day, it will have lost at least 15% of battery life over night. Both Geek Squad and Sony Tech support said this is "normal". I did some testing. My 4 year old Fujitsu Lifebook only drops 4% overnight. My new HP only drops 5% overnight. I travel quite a bit. This Sony was to be my travel laptop. If I don't keep it plugged in, it's dead within a week. Totally dead, not just low. Another issue is that a Vista upgrade on 3/25 crashed the system and lost all data. After spending hours removing the TONS of bloatware the computer comes with, I had to do a reinstall and do it all over again. Very frustrating. I also had to pay Best Buy $29.99 for the O/S disk. What a joke. Sony Tech support is worthless. I have entry-level techs who work for me that know more than these idiots. After fighting with Best Buy and Sony for weeks, I've decided to turn it over to my American Express buyer protection plan. Maybe they will have better luck than me.
