Rotten Roomba
Date of Review: Oct 12, 2009
The Bottom Line: I would not and could not possibly recommend this product and I'm a college trained electronics engineer, it just doesnt work for more than a few days at best.
I've had a 560 for about eigtheen months now and spent more time stripping it down and fiddling with its nether regions than doing my own job. I've bought a complete new brush set, side brushes by the score and even a couple of filters and now the side brush has stopped rotating !. Again I stripped the thing down and tested the side brush motor with a battery, it works fine, reassembled it and off it ran, not working, there is no help on the Irobot site apart from an emailing system which I just know will take ages to come back to me and when it does they will give me a list of things to try .. the same list of things I've already tried !. It seems no matter what I do it just will not work for more than a few days without demanding I clean the wheels or some such nonsense. Its that clean you could eat your dinner off the wheels. All it has to do is scuttle around a couple of rooms and actually pick up a bit of dirt now and again but this just seems too much to ask of it. I'm going to send it away for fixing then its off to Ebay with it !.
My advice is if you need your house cleaning don't buy a Roomba hire a cleaner !, at least you can argue the toss with a human !.
