Surprised that Roomba Does Such a Good Job
Pros:
Decreases time spent cleaning; easy to operate

Loud if you are on the phone, etc. Battery discharges quickly.
The Bottom Line:
Recommended. Let it work while you do something else! And, it fascinates the grandkids - cheap entertainment...

Author's Review
I had been skeptical of the Roomba; after reading other's good reviews and I got one during the Christmas sales, but secretly feared it was just too good to be true. My kitchen floor is a rich green ceramic tile, and though rugged and beautiful, it shows dirt bits and crumbs. Lots of foot traffic in and outdoors thru my kitchen means I have a good accumulation to vacuum every few days not only on the tile but in the "valley" of the grouted area. I worried the Roomba wouldn't get all the debris in the grouted areas of the tile floor.
That sweet little Roomba whisks and sucks up every crumb and lint bit it comes across! Does a remarkable job getting around the edges of the table legs, under the counter and under furniture. The kitchen floor is ready for a quick wet-mop once the Roomba finishes collecting all the crumb bits and debris for me.
I've found my Roomba cleans faster and thus reduces battery consumption when I take all the kitchen chairs out of its way. I do wish I had bought the docking self-recharge station, as cleaning the kitchen alone seems to consume enough of the battery that I have to recharge awhile before taking Roomba to another room (it is lightweight, not hard to carry).
My Roomba came with one electric eye station that operates like an invisible wall to keep the Roomba in it's boundary. One electric eye "wall" seemed sufficient for my needs, as we have doors throughout our home. But when I need to quick-clean only a confined section of one room (which perhaps gets dirtier than the other section), I've found myself wishing I had 2 electric eyes.
I also use the Roomba to clean bedroom floors, all of which are hardwood with low-nap or sisal rugs. I love not having to go after those dust bunnies from under the beds anymore!!
Roomba can get tangled in fringe on rugs, and will tangle in electric cords. Instructions say to tuck the fringe under the rug. I didn't mind ensuring all the electric cords were "up" and out of the Roomba's way, and I secured them permanently that way so I wouldn't have to deal with it every time I clean.
Also thought it was pretty neat that the Roomba makes an "uh-oh" sound and beeps a code to tell you what's wrong if it gets stuck or a brush isn't turning properly. Listening to the number of beeps lets you know exactly what needs to be inspected and corrected.
I guess what I like best is that I can let the Roomba work while I go get something else done. Makes my life easier!
