Author's Review
When i was searching for an MP3 player, i was amazed at how much Apple is pushing its product. When walking into Circuit City, or Best Buy, all that is displayed is the Ipod. After reading several reviews, and finding out alot of useless information, i finally decided to just go out and read the boxes. As it turns out, i ended up with an Iriver H10 20gb. It looks awesome, and sounds Amazing. Its the blue remix, and after compared to the other MP3 players out there, it holds its own. I was after an Ipod 20gb, and they have just come out with the color display. It runs about 300 bucks, just like the Iriver. BUT...The ipod lacks any features, just plays music. Sure that sounds great, but for 300 bucks, it should have some features. The Iriver comes with a built in microphone recorder (which is awesome for recording lectures and i even used to record band practice one night..its very sensitive), and a FM tuner! these are like 90 dollar add on options for the Apple...(who wants all that crap hanging off there slim MP3 player when it can be built in) And the Iriver comes with a color screen, and plus the coolest feature is that you can record off the radio onto the unit. And it comes with a timer so if you have a favorite radio show, you can set a time and channel to record automatically! but it gets better, the Ipod does not come near to the sound of the Iriver in my opinion. The Iriver has 30 preset EQs, and then it has a 4 bar custom EQ so you can set it yourself...try to do this on the Ipod. And finally, the Iriver uses digital audio to store the music, so if i am correct then it does not have a spinning hardrive, so you don't have to worry about it skipping like the Apple, and if you drop it you don't run the risk of crashing the hard drive...so if you like to run and jog, and don't like skipping music, and you want alot more features built in, and a better sounding MP3 player, try out the Iriver H10 20gb. Atleast give it a look before you conform to the Ipod rage.
