I really, really love Apple Computer. So, it was no doubt that the iPod was my first choice. But then I saw its price tag. (I'm only 14!) Then, around January 2004, Apple released the iPod Mini. I had enough money for it, so I got one. A month later (backorder!) I received my iPod Mini-Blue with laser-engraving. It is the coolest thing ever! Now everyone in class has them. Pink, gold, silver, pink, blue. iPod rules. There is no doubt that this is the best dang MP3 player out there. All those iPod imitators, they will never come even close to the iPod's style and ease of use. Apple's Switch>Press site even has an article that says Bill Gates was introduced to the iPod by a WSJ journalist. "He was amazed by its ease-of-use", they said.
But then there's the issue of HD-based vs. Flash-based MP3 Players. "Oh, they only cost like $80." Yeah, well you get what you pay for. And buying enough for that flash-based player will cost a lot more than one iPod. 512MB stick of memory costs like $50. So, divide 4,000 by 500, and you get 8. 8 x $50=$400. That's just to get the equivelant of the iPod's memory. Add $80 for the player, and you have almost $500. An iPod mini costs half of that! And you spend about $100 a year to buy batteries to power that thing. $600!
